Welcome to the Mutterings of a Military Spouse. I write, because I just have to.
My husband was Army back in the Cold War, then Reserve, then National Guard. After 9/11, he went Active Guard Reserve and then back into the Active Army. Our son is also an Iraq War Veteran, as is his wife.
I’m a Virtual Assistant; a grandmother of a wonderful little girl; a volunteer for military spouses; volunteer at a local cat shelter; an [almost full time] student of psychology and social work; I love traveling, reading, way too much TV, environmental causes, Italian and Greek food, good European beer, knitting and walking through the woods, Celtic music, bagpipe bands – big and small.
Welcome! Please give me your opinions, your thoughts. All I ask – be polite.
Karen
Hi, Karen -
I heard you on the Colin McEnroe show. I am a licensed mental health professional (PhD social worker), and I’d like to help. I’ve worked with people at the VA on issues related to military families. I’d like to know more about your efforts and the availability (or lack) of professional help for families inside or outside the military system. Maybe we can get something going. Please email me.
Thanks,
Barbara
Hi Karen,
You’ve place an important spotlight on the value of clean air for both our service members and children. It’s truly concerning how some in Congress are working to weaken the Clean Air Act and how such blatant pandering to polluters could jeopardize public health.
If you haven’t seen it already, I thought you might appreciate the American Lung Association’s new clean air ad: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JGqFUyRjavc
